Senior UI Designer



The Client: One of the most iconic names in the travel industry are on a journey to become Europe’s greatest travel experience. Since the day they were founded they have been leading the way with innovation and their customers have been at the heart of everything they do. Thousands of people use their services every day so ensuring that this is an experience they enjoy and remember is of utmost importance. Having recently appointed a new UX Manager they are about to kick off a transformation that will not only improve the customer experience but also change the way the entire organisation approaches design for the better. They currently have a cross-functional team of approximately 13 people but this is primarily contractors. They are shifting to make most of that team permanent so this role will be the first permanent UI/Visual designer that they hire which will give you the chance to take ownership of a wide range of their products and visual language. The role as Senior UI Designer: As the first permanent UI/Visual Designer there is huge scope in this role. Working closely with the UX Manager, Product Manager and Senior stakeholders you will be helping to build, implement evolve and manage an entirely new design system for the entire business while also having the chance to craft beautiful interface and visual designs for a wide array of digital touch points that spans beyond just web and mobile. In addition, the cross-functional product team work so collaboratively that you will also have input and exposure to large amounts of the UX process. Perfect if you have an interest in doing more with UX or even have this experience already. User testing happens at every step too so you will not only get to see test results on the wireframes, journeys and prototypes but also test your visual designs to help validate your decisions even further. Key responsibilities: Work closely with the UX Manager to develop a brand new design system. Build and manage a component library in Sketch (Including motion graphics/interaction elements) and style guide to be used across all digital touch points. Produce beautiful interface designs for an array of web, mobile and interactive display products. Own and evolve the visual design language across the entire brand. Run workshops and user testing sessions with your UX counterparts. Oversee the visual design contractors (but not line manage). Be the leading voice for all things visual design working closely with senior stakeholders. Validate all of your design decisions using the data collected by user testing and the research team. Contribute to some user UX processes like defining journeys, wireframes and prototyping. Be an advocate for a co-design process. (Aka: Co-creation or generative design) Help to improve the relationship and communication between design and development. What you need: Demonstrable experience as a Visual/UI Designer with a portfolio of beautiful, clean product focused digital designs. Experience designing for cross-platform products. Significant experience working with and/or building a design system. (Ideally an in-depth knowledge) You validate all of your design decisions through a considered approach and understanding your users. A good understanding of co-design processes and agile workflows. A clear, concise and confident speaker who can communicate their ideas effectively. A passion for creativity and love to push the boundaries in digital design. Any experience or interest in UX is a bonus.
