Senior Product Designer – VC Backed start-up – London

The client: A VC-backed start-up software company providing SME’s in a niche sector with the tools they need to grow and deliver their products to a huge customer base spanning across over 100 countries. And this has all been achieved with an initial team of just 7 people! In short, the partner brands get a backend management system that includes everything from inventory management, a wholesale shop, website builders and POS system and the customers get same day delivery, greater variety and guaranteed quality due to the vetting process that on-boards these partners. Founded three years ago and officially launched only two years ago, they have already been voted in the UK top 100 start-up list for two years running and expected to do some big things. So much so that they have attracted initial team members and advisors from the likes of JustEat, Citymapper and Burberry. They have big growth plans for the next year including expanding to five new cities in the UK and US and to begin the development of their brand new integrated SaaS platform for their partners to use. The role as a Senior Product Designer Joining a brand new product team being built specifically for their brand new SaaS product you will take complete ownership of the product. Reporting directly to the CTO you will be the leading voice for product design and product processes to take this product from discovery, working with a researcher to identify user needs, through information architecture, concept development prototyping, testing, Visual Design and working closely with developers to deliver the final product. The team will consist of you (the designer) a Product Manager, 2 Developers (Front and Back-end) and a researcher. Key responsibilities: Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary team to deliver innovative products. Really own the entire product from day one. Work closely with the Product Manager to understand the different users of the product (customers, partners and employees). Deliver experiences and designs that work for each of these users, whilst remaining true to the overall brand identity. Be responsible for the entire product design life cycle. Mockupwireframes and generate high fidelity prototypes in order to test your designs with users. Support developers through the handover and implementation until feature release. Support the creation of an environment that encourages learning career progression. What you need: A portfolio of case studies that demonstrates your ability in both UX and the UI/Visual side of the process. Be a keen problem solver – you enjoy complex product challenges. Comfortable being the first product designer joining a start-up and acting as the leading voice as they grow. You appreciate the benefits of data-driven design, are comfortable understanding analytical data and using this to influence your designs. Proficient with design tools like Sketch and any prototyping tool of choice. Familiar with Zeplin and are happy coordinating directly with engineers. B2B or Enterprise software experience ideal but not required.
