Mid Product Designer – Challenger Bank
The client: This start-up are building a challenger bank with a difference. By putting their customers first, they offer a service and product portfolio that aims to not only provide great financial products and a great user experience, but educate their users along the way. By doing so, they aim to give them control and the ability to make the best decisions about their finances…even if that means going with a competitor. As one of the fastest growing challenger banks, they have doubled their customer base in the last 4 months alone. And having secured over £80Million in investment, they can remain sustainable for the next three years without ever making a profit! (Yet they will be before the year is up). The role of a Product Designer Sitting as part of the cross-functional ‘Product, Marketing and Design’ team you will work alongside one other Product Designer and report to the Principle Product Designer. However, this team has plans to continue to grow so it won’t be the three of you for long. Working in Agile, you will be joined by a mix of Product Owners, Scrum Masters and Developers with 2-week sprint cycles. As a truly end – end designer, you will have the opportunity to design across all elements of the digital experience for their portfolio of mobile apps and responsive websites. Starting with research to really understand your customer base and following the entire product process (Concepts, personas, wires, flows, prototyping, testing and final visual design for developer hand-off etc.) to deliver best in class experiences for their users. This could be for entirely new products and features or improving those that are already in place. The team believes that the only way to stay ahead is to constantly evolve. So whether it’s the brand, the product or the features that you are working on there is tons of opportunity to make your mark and shape the companies vision for the future. Key responsibilities: Solve real problems. This is the biggest factor of the role. Everything you do will be solving a real user problem whether it’s a small flow change, an update to the visual language or implementing entirely new features. Work closely with the wider team to define product vision and develop solutions. Produce flows, wireframes and prototypes for both web and mobile products. Constantly iterate and improve your ideas through comprehensive testing… What you need: Previous experience designing digital products end – end. A strong portfolio of case studies demonstrating both your UX and Visual skill set. Experience working on both responsive web and mobile products. Strong understanding of both visual and UCD principles. Proficient with design tools like Sketch, InVision and Zeplin.
