Job Details £22,233 per annum for 36 hour week, based at Holland Close Childrens Home, Redhill, Surrey. Hours are worked on a rota basis, which involve sleep-ins and include evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Are you looking for a challenge? Surrey Residential Homes accommodate children up to 18 years of age. All of our homes are inspected regularly by OFSTED and most have been judged as either ‘Good’, ‘Outstanding’ or are working towards this. Therefore we are very proud of the quality of our residential services for children in Surrey. We have invested in our homes and staff and plan to continue to do this, in order to achieve a service that is ambitious, innovative and responsive to the needs of young people in our care. Holland Close looks after 2 young people usually aged between 10-16 years old on admission for young people in crisis who have experienced challenging and traumatic life events. Holland Close offers short term safe and stabilising placements, where our young people’s immediate needs can be identified and addressed through the process of building meaningful relationships, creating and maintaining child focused routines and boundaries that promote their welfare and support their development. Through the use of Restorative Practice and Promoting Positive Behaviour within in our daily practice, the home aims to develop a holistic understanding of our young people to inform long term care planning. For the this post you won’t necessarily need experience of residential work, but will need to demonstrate experience of working with and understanding some of the complex issues many children and young people in care may have. You will need to have empathy and resilience. You will be enthusiastic, reliable and flexible and be prepared to work some unsociable hours, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and sleep in’s. As a Residential Worker you will: Participate in the design, implementation and monitoring of care plans for individual children Maintain good communications and continuity of work practice within the home through attendance at, and contribution to regular team meetings Undertake responsibility for individual children/young people in accordance with linkworker/keyworker responsibility Engage actively in collaboration with others in the residential service in the development of effective practice for the care and containment of young people with challenging behaviour and complex needs be required to achieve a level 3 NVQ/Diploma qualification within 2 years of your start date in this role To be shortlisted to interview your application will clearly evidence : Knowledge of child development Ability and preparedness to recognise and deal appropriately with conflict Awareness of the existence and effects of social disadvantage and discrimination Aspirations to “make a difference” and a view to practice in a restorative way A positive, adaptable, confident, resilient and self-aware approach to work A committed and flexible attitude This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires compassion, self-awareness, maturity and humour.
